Chapter 25- Being kicked when you are down!

Sorry!  I have to start with a negative today as I am feeling as though I have been kicked when I am down.  Truly, it can be discouraging when, despite all ones efforts to overcome adversity, life throws you a curved ball!

I am paying the price, my friends, for partying a little too hard over my birthday. Cushioned by the love of friends and family, I let down my guard and decided to dance last Saturday -  nothing wild, just a little gentle 3-step to a couple of romantic songs. I experienced no pain at the time.  Merely a little muscular fatigue. But the next morning, I awoke in acute pain, unable to move my right arm due to a tendonitis in my shoulder.

Now, I have quite a high pain threshold and don't usually give in to pain too easily but this one has knocked me for six! Unable to move my right arm with residual weakness in my left arm has restricted all my daily activities including the positive initiatives that I had just started.  My lace-making has seen an untimely interval.

Struggling to apply, ice packs and ointments myself, I am calling out all the troops to relieved this debilitating pain and trying not to feel sorry for myself.  But there are no quick answers for this condition. Time alone will heal in combination with common sense remedies such as have been suggested to me.  I list these below for your interest and hope that no-one has to resort to these.
  1. Drink milk containing a pinch of turmeric, 3 times a day.
  2. Take, homeopathic Arnica,
  3. Apply ice- packs to the inflamed area.
  4. Use heat packs to relieve surrounding muscular tension.
  5. Take pain-killers (not anti-inflammatories as these may conflict with other medication or cause stomach upsets).
  6. Be patient and maintain range of movement- I have been finger-walking up the wall to stop the shoulder from seizing-up.
But in truth, I could have done without this 'optional extra' and have been well-warned against letting down my guard in the future.

One day of Joy followed by 10 days of pain!
