Chapter 21- Slow Down- You'e going too fast!

Slowing down the pace of life is forcing me to look longer and harder at the happenings and people around me and giving me time to appreciate their talents.  I have a couple of skill-buddies, People with talents they want to share but have never had the opportunity or the company to do so.  Using my enforced retirement from work to acquire a new skill is for me, a productive use of my time.  So I am learning to sew with my skill buddy, Suman.  She has all the  & knowledge  & materials to create some wonderful and unique items and now she is regularly sharing her precious time with me. Yesterday we visited an embroidery exhibition at Forty Hall, Enfield and got the bug for yet another skill.  The ladies of the guild invited us to join them in creating a large piece of embroidery to be exhibited at the Hall when completed and we were hooked!

It is an art that appears now, sadly, to be confined to the age of retirement as it requires, time, patience and attention but we were delighted to see young people enthusiastically contributing to the exhibit.

Living in an era of jet speed travel and life choices, the faster the journey from A to B  the better, it is amazing what we miss in making our journey.

This morning, I am appreciating, perhaps for the first time, this slower pace of life and giving thanks for the opportunity to catch the scenery on this slow train ride through life. Taking the time to see this beautiful world and some beautiful people within it and give thanks for my ability to appreciate these.

Are you missing something or someone under your very nose?
Just take your foot off the accelerator for a few metres- and appreciate the change in pace.
